NIOSH has given its approval for environments containing certain oil and non-oil based particles. 3M highly recommends its use, especially for mitigating nuisance-level organic vapor exposure and offering up to 10X OSHA PEL ozone protection. The 3M Particulate Filter 2097, P100, with Nuisance Level Organic Vapor Relief is designed to provide respiratory protection against potential exposure to hazardous substances such as lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA. When used with half facepieces, it is effective at concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL), and with quantitatively fit tested full facepieces, it provides protection up to 50 times PEL. This filter is versatile, guarding against a wide range of both oil and non-oil based particulate contaminants. Furthermore, it provides relief from nuisance-level odors stemming from organic vapors, provided they are below the PEL. It’s crucial to note that “nuisance level” indicates concentrations below OSHA PEL or other applicable government exposure limits, whichever is lower. This filter is not intended for use in environments immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) or as a substitute for respiratory protection against organic vapors. The filter’s applications are diverse and include welding, brazing, torch cutting, metal pouring, and soldering, making it adaptable across various industries. By using this filter, organizations can streamline their safety equipment inventories and reduce training requirements. Compatible with a wide range of facepieces, including 3M Half and Full Facepieces 6000, 7000, and FF-400 Series, it offers flexibility. With the addition of 3M Adapter 502, it can also be used with 3M Respirator 5000 Series or 3M Cartridge 6000 Series. This filter holds NIOSH approval for environments containing specific oil and non-oil based particles and is color-coded as “Magenta” in the NIOSH system. Meeting NIOSH’s P-series test criteria, the 2097 P100 filter ensures at least 99.97 percent filter efficiency against particles, reducing the risk associated with inhaling hazardous particles.
